However much I love James Spader I'm not sure the show would ever have been made if he was in the pilot.

Some of the scenes between Michael Shanks and Richard Dean Anderson in the pilot seem like they are written for Spader based on how it's framed and performed. But I seriously think Spader would have made it too dour, and it wouldn't have made their interpersonal balance work as well. In the pilot Shanks is doing a little bit more of a Spader impersonation than he does later, but he is a lot more optimistic in how he speaks and presents the dialogue. Which changes the dynamic a a whole.

I don't remember it being revealed what Rob's job is, but he is transferred from New York to Paris just before the start of the first movie. And it's his townhouse in NYC that is used in Home Alone 2.

It's been a while since I did that sort of thing, but from what I remember: The vast majority of "night vision" cameras are active IR, or sensitive enough that proper reflective surfaces trigger activity if they change a large enough area.

And the type of imagery these searches are looking for, would most likely be fooled by a couple of reflective strips blowing in the wind. Although I might recommend using strips of that reflective stuff on safety vests, that way you'd really "poison the pool".

EDIT:

Don't tape the strips across the street. Hang them nearer the camera so they occupy a larger area of the footage and triggers more easily. Although not on/close to the lens, that will make them notice too soon. You can even just tape a stick on top of the camera that goes up like a fishing rod, with some strands of fishing wire to reflect light in the moisture that condenses(basically a fake spiderweb).

And that's just the people who live nearby. For the 1mill people who live outside the city proper, there's probably another hour or two of travel and wait before the bus sets off.

You're literally falling into the same fallacy as the writer: You're assuming that there aren't people like myself who don't actively use any form of LLM.

It's almost as if the whole "left vs right" thing can unironically be boiled down to "empathy vs. narcissim".

If you're not planning on watching Strange New Worlds anytime soon(or rather, don't care about a few spoilers):

spoilerThere is a crossover episode with Lower Decks and Strange New Worlds, and it's worth watching. It's only mentioned in passing in LD, so many people don't know that it happened if they haven't watched SNW.

Yeah, dishes and clothes are often the exception depending on what off-brands you can find, because of the extra surfactants and softeners used. But for cleaning yourself and general surfaces most generic soap works exactly like the stuff that can cost several times as much.

Either type is known to cause an increase in mortality rates for transplant patients, especially if it is not discovered early. And it can occur in up to 30% of liver-transplants, depending on their previous risk factors.

Same thing that's wrong with imgur and many other websites: It was made for a singular purpose, but over the years it was turned more and more into a commercialized social media platform.

If you open fandom now, about half the page is filled with links, images, popouts, side bar, bottom bar, sliding bars, unhidden elements, notifications, etc. trying to get you to join their "community", and things like that. It's automatically playing videos. They stopped letting people have custom looks for hosted wikis(all has to follow the fandom look so they can enforce their "community" nonsense). And that's with adblock. Without it's actually hard to find what is the real content, since there are about a dozen ads covering everything.

  1. The article is shit, the study is about copper used for reducing fossil-fuel power generation. It is basing the projected use of copper on windmills and especially large batteries.

  2. Those high-powered and long distance power lines are made aluminium and steel.

I'm sort of surprised companies haven't started to implement some hidden visual verification in their broadcasts. So they can prove deepfakes of it aren't real.
