Kinda hoping that Hawaiian Ice cream place has a Spam flavor

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Why? Are you just mad at their patrons?

Sorry, I was just joking. I got the reference. I was facetiously accusing you of food crimes.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

All good. Sorry I didn’t get it.

This has been an unexpectedly amicable and mature resolution to a minor misunderstanding in an internet forum. Aren't we supposed to be lobbing insults, if not slurs, at each other by this point?

I also enjoyed this amicable exchange. Thank you, friend.

Austin circa 2023.

That is apparently the St. Austin Catholic Church but, according to street view, that Hawaiian ice cream place was torn down.

This guy geo-time locates

Nice find. That’s the place indeed. It’s in the UT campus area and there’s a nice Korean restaurant at that corner.

Near the "Hawaiian icecream"

[–] [email protected] 1 points 5 days ago

Which one? The one near the place or one by the thing?

That's on me. I set the bar too low.

Also, does that mean you're leaving Earth, or is this entire physical area, including its people and infrastructure, leaving Earth?

Either way, you've got a big task ahead, and probably a lot of explaining to do in each case.

That road is huuuge!

With lanes that wide it's amazing cars ever hit each other haha.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 5 days ago

That's not really weird for American road sizes. If I had to guess that's more of a stroad with speeds around 64 km/h (40 mph), possibly officially 48 km/h (30 mph) with everyone doing 10 mph over the speed limit because the roads aren't designed to slow traffic to safe city speeds. Most of our roads are like this, and it's a contributor to our abhorrent pedestrian fatality rate.

The left-hand side mix of utilitarian architectures is interesting.

Why would anyone put pineapple on icecream?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 5 days ago

More like they're creaming on pineapple

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

It's extremely common, especially on banana splits. Still, if I want frozen pineapple, I'd rather just have Dole whip.
