I’ve never seen this variation and I like it a lot.

@fossilesque id just swap the vim commands :xq and :q! and watch the world burn

[–] [email protected] 29 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

:q! Is the only vim command I know pls don't do this to me. :,)

I think there's a punk rock song called she bangs or something like that...

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

fun unsolicited vim fact: just :x works as save and quit

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Not to be confused with :X, which is to encrypt the file.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I see, "X" as in "encrypt", got it. Easy to remember, and not confusing at all. I love Vím!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Its for XEncrypt so it posts to twitter after encrypting

unrelated but did you just dump 15+ memes at once or is it wonky federation issues

[–] [email protected] 52 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's federation. I get dumps of reports from different servers hours after I remove them. I tend to post them over a span of an hour or so. Remember we are tiny, trying to weave us a bit more.

Wanda just knows that Timmy is a complete idiot and would find a way to threaten the survival of humanity with any wish.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago

Have him wish for a change in the duration of a second, and watch as the metric system falls apart.

Then watch all protons suddenly burp out a couple of leptons and a photon, instantly decay into some other lower mass thingy.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As long as protons are the lowest mass baryon, there is nothing for them to decay to (barring violation of baryon number conservation).

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

But surely with a higher mass, they'll be - to quote C3PO here - not entirely stable, with a new lower mass and that particle having another name.

I wish everyone was addicted to crack

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That counts as mind control, which is against da rulez

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I wish crack was legal and was contained in every type of potato and rice

You just need to work around da rulez

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Technically not. There are habits, which are mental, and then there are chemical addictions.

Regardless, you could simply wish for crack to magically appear in everyone's blood stream in a constant pace for the next week, then turn it off suddenly, and watch everyone (except the crackheads with a stash) go through hell together.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

And then Cosmos wand goes limp and farts, because that’s against Da Rules

Wanda, I wish I had an extra inch

noo timmy, you're still a child, why are you already so concerned with how others perceive you??!

Cosmo, I want a flashlight so bright I can see inside a black hole.

LOL here you go. Want me to teleport you to the event horizon for testing?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

I don't feel very positive about this idea.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

@fossilesque looks like federation is broken, so I can't directly reply to your comment, but :xq is save and quit, :q! is quit without saving.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

I :q! then nano lmao

at risks

We need better AI to write this stuff.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

so now someone that's (probably) not a native English speaker making a writing mistake is AI to you?

[–] [email protected] -2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Non native speakers usually write better than native speakers.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

As a long time teacher of ESL back in the day, I'd say that depends heavily on the native language.

European languages generally do well

Asian languages generally struggle

Middle Eastern languages, well, things don't translate well on paper

Conversely, I found the middle Eastern students to have excellent speaking abilities.

The difference in how the mind processes speaking vs writing was truly fascinating to me.
