the year is 2008. taylor effortlessly uses the singular they in a hook, at a time when probably none of us would have thought of it, in a song about hetero high-school heartbreak.

now they're lighting the world on fire over pronouns. this isn't hollywood. this is a hellmouth.

I've been listening to this album straight through a few times now, and I'm amazed there's no song that I feel less enthusiastic about. There's absolutely no skip tracks on this one. Is there even a weakest track? I don't think there is.

I love all albums (except Debut, which I ask a country skeptic has just not listened to), but there's almost always one track I feel less for. Not so on 1989. Amazing.

Now that the Superbowl is over I expect we won't be hearing from either Taylor or Travis for a while. Let the wild speculation news cycle resume!

I just listened to "Cornelia Street" again, and was reminded of the sound of windshield wipers. Do you have any other such "hidden sounds" you like?

Do you maybe have ways to make them easier to spot?

For some reason I find those sound in that song easier to catch when I listen in my car. Coincidence?

I have experienced some of the biggest rep tv clownery from my swiftie friend, but after getting burnt so many times, she has stopped entertaining any ideas of when rep tv comes out (rightfully so LOL). So I was wondering what are some theories that you believe for the release date of rep tv now that we are in 2025? I truly believe this is the year she drops rep. I have heard of the 3/21 theory, and I could see that being the announcement date maybe.. but I am hoping for a Q3/Q4 date personally.

Excited to hear your theories!!

Another day in โ€œoh my god @taylorswift is so effing classyโ€ land. Opened a package today that had an @mtv case inside and thought โ€œwho worked at MTV?! Me? Charlie?โ€ฆโ€ What a delightful surprise! My 90โ€™s girl heart is bursting. Thank you for sending me an MTVVMA, Taylor. What a joy you are. And thanks to the rest of my #antihero family @birbigs and @bejohnce ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฏโ€โ™‚๏ธ #mtvvma #kimber

Meme:

Taylor Swift meme. The top-half of the meme is a screenshot of Taylor Swift's music video "ME!", where Taylor is being lifted above a crowd while she sings. The caption reads "2019 Taylor: 'Hey, kids! Spelling is fun!' " The bottom-half of the meme is official art of Taylor featured in her 2024 album "THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY". Taylor Swift faces away from the camera and appears somber and sad. The text imposed on the bottom-half of the image reads "2024 Taylor: 'D-Y-I-N-G.'". This is a lyric from her song "How Did it End?"

Meme Context (for those that don't know much about Taylor at all and can only name one song - "Shake it Off")

The 2019 picture is from her album "Lover", where she feels she's in a great relationship and made several smash hit songs such as "Lover" and "ME!", a song famously embracing and celebrating inclusivitiy and the LGBTQ+ community. If you or someone you knew was married in 2019/2020, chances are you heard Lover played during the celebrations.

The 2024 picture is from her album "THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT" from 2024. The text is her singing a lyric where she spells the word "Dying", from her honest and poetic song "How Did It End?" In this song, she reflects on her relationship that did not work out, and sings that while she doesn't fully understand why the relationship ended (as she's conducting the post-mortem), everyone is only concerned about gossiping and trying to figure out how it ended.

"Say it once again with feeling
How the death rattle breathing
Silenced as the soul was leaving
The deflation of our dreaming
Leaving me bereft and reeling
My beloved ghost and me
Sitting in a tree
D-Y-I-N-G"

I've been relistening to THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT: THE ANTHOLOGY and think it's one of the most honest, self-reflecting, and transparent albums I've ever listened to. Thought I'd make a meme because I just heard this song again and came up with this joke (that probably someone else already beat me to the punch, but here we are).

Overall, I'd give the movie a 2/5. I probably would watch it again if someone really wanted to, but I'd definitely use my phone while we did it.

The plot was pretty boring - there was no overarching story or threat like most Christmas movies, it was really just their relationship and relationships with the family. We knew the outcome ahead of time, just based on real events, so there weren't particularly high stakes with the relationship either.

The Taylor Swift references were mid. The characters didn't even represent their real lives very well. The in-movie Taylor's father passed away and she apparently has a rocky relationship with her mother, which is damn near as far away from reality as you can get. The Travis character is on the same team as his brother, which is not accurate but less egregious than the Taylor character issues so it's whatever. The ex-boyfriend is an enigma, because I'm not sure who on Earth it was supposed to portray. The character seemed to be Joe, but behave more like Jake Gyllenhaal (if Jake was a huge douche).

The biggest Taylor references made were just lyrics to songs with no meaning or context. Like a character saying "you know all too well" or "I'm not really a cheerleader type, more like a bleachers type". They had opportunity to actually recreate scenarios from the songs but I think that would have required them to have actually listened to a song in the last decade, rather than apparently only being a fan since Red. I'm almost certain the writer(s) were not actual Taylor fans and were just trying to cash in on her fame.

After all that, somehow I am most upset about the disrespect the movie keeps dishing out to NFL running backs. Making it sound like the Travis character gets no respect just because he's a lowly running back and his brother is the quarterback. I'm not even in to football and some of the most famous football players of all time are running backs or wide receivers, including Travis himself! Whoever wrote the film obviously didn't know Taylor lore or how the NFL works and it shows.

So there is my review of "Christmas in the Spotlight". I'd love to hear your thoughts as well - did anyone else watch it?

I thought there was a fascinating spike in odds on July 3rd so I naturally had to investigate why they would shoot up like that.

I believe I narrowed it down to an interview Kelce did with Jason Sudekis on a skit show around that time

Just wanted to share a fascinating insight into how people pick odds on these sites

There's also a pool for whether Mike Tyson will bite off Logan Paul's ear, so they go wild there
