Since the warm summer months are coming there'll be people needing to buy fans once again and I'm here to suggest the Dutch brand "Duux"

After getting it recommended by a friend I bought myself a Duux Whisper 2. Its really quiet and of great quality + has an app integration.

They also have air cleaners, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, mobile airconditioners and heaters!

We've all already talked about switching away from google/apple maps to something like openstreetmaps, mapy, tomtom amigo, etc. But all of these services use openstreetmaps (UK non-profit) as a source and they still miss a lot of local data even for bigger cities!

If you have some spare time, think about adding a bit of data to the map with your local knowledge. There's a lot of business data missing that is on google maps like websites, phone numbers and opening hours but also stuff like parking lots and whether they're publicly accessible and free or not. Adding these makes the competition of ALL services using OSM as a source better.

I also use the mobile app https://streetcomplete.app/ and https://every-door.app/ to add data while on my walks, these make my walks more engaging and I actually take longer ones + see new places because of it. Streetcomplete also has a focus on important and easy to collect data with their default filters, and you can choose what you want to contribute.

I'm looking for an alternative to duolingo, the main appeal for me of duolingo is the gamification of the app as this helps me to stay consistent (so just normal flashcards would not be suitable).

they make it very easy to get up and running. just sign up (they give you 5 euro free credit to get started), install the apps you want, then you will be charged a certain amount depending on how many apps youre using

theres about 90 apps to choose from but some notable ones would be Immich for photos, Joplin for note-taking, Blinko for something more like Google Keep or Pinterest, FreshRSS for managing RSS feeds, Wallabag for saving articles to read later, Navidrome for running your own music server, Nextcloud as an alternative to Google Drive or OneDrive

im running wallabag and freshRSS myself and theres not much to comment on really, they were both very straight forward to set up!

Last year, the CEO of Adobe earned 40 million dollars. He only travels in an armored SUV with bodyguards. He has been described as ''completely obsessed'' about money and power. If he could get away with it, he would probably murder open source developers to send a message.

With extremely limited ressources, Inkscape, Krita, Gimp, Kdenlive are doing fantastic work, offering free alternatives to Adobe.

Please support open source software developers.

You don't have to donate fortunes. Just adopt 1 software.
